Discovering Facebook etiquette

Facebook is one of the most if not the most popular social networking site in the world. Internet savvy people are sure to have at least one account. Yes, it is possible for people to have more than one for their own personal reasons but that’s another story. People embraced Facebook easily because it allows them to reconnect with long lost friends, make new friends and know what’s going on with the lives of the people on their friends’ list.

It can be argued that Facebook is a person’s diary that they are willing to show everybody. You can post relatively anything. Your latest relationship status, photos, where you are, how you are feeling and the list goes on. Perhaps Facebook is so personalized that people tend to forget their social networking responsibilities. I suppose the simplest way to say it is, not all people care about what you ate last night so please don’t flood the news updates.
Yes. It can really be annoying how people use Facebook as their ranting place. Some couples actually “wall to wall” their arguments for all their friends to see. Free speech? These type of things crush the meaning of it and makes it go overrated.

Although it is doable to hide the updates of these flooder, it is just right to expect etiquette from every Facebook user. Let us try to make the things we share on Facebook be useful to others and keep our personal garbage to ourselves.
From now on, let us be responsible for the things we post as if they truly mirror the kind of people that we are. Let us make our Facebook friends be glad that they friended us.
