The HCG protocol- Is it really effective for weight loss?

You probably heard about the HCG protocol if you’re searching for the fastest weight loss program. Dr. Simeons developed this protocol back in the 50’s and it’s only in the recent years that the program has actually reached this magnitude in terms of popularity. Fact is, the protocol that we have now is still the same protocol that was introduced by Dr. Simeons from his book “Pounds and Inches”. The principle for the HCG diet is actually quite simple. Just take the HCG and follow the strict 500 calories a day diet. Simple, right? The trick really is with the 500 calorie a day diet which can make a person starve if he/she does not have the human chorionic gonadotropin hormone in the body. It’s what makes you lose weight and not the hormone itself.

So, how does it work? By taking the HCG hormone (used to be available only in terms of injections but now you can take the HCG drops and pills), you are activating the body’s fat deposits to make it readily available when the person is not getting enough calorie source. The person will then follow the strict 500 calories a day diet with foods that are limited only to what’s allowed in the protocol such as 100 grams of beef, chicken, fish and about 100 grams or more of vegetables like lettuce, cabbage and spinach. You are also required to eat either grapejuice or 2 pieces of apple each day which you can add to your lunch or dinner or in between meals just so you won’t feel your stomach is empty. Do this for 21 days up to 40 days per session and voila! You lose 15-40 pounds.

It may sound crazy how such a diet can make you lose that much weight in the shortest time but it’s really convincing to know that a lot of people have tried it and swore they lose at least 15 pounds on the protocol. It’s actually very scientific and when you take the hormone you don’t feel hungry at all. Of course it’s required that you take nutritional supplements as your body needs all those vitamins and minerals on top of the calories so make sure you get those.

The rule on this diet is to never cheat while on the protocol as a small cheat can take you 2 to 3 days backwards and that’s a lot to sacrifice for something that’s forbidden. Just think that you can eat all those again when you’re done with the protocol so what’s a few weeks off of unhealthy foods, right? You’ll feel a lot better about yourself after and you know you did yourself a huge favor.

The HCG diet is great as long as you know what you’re up to. Also, make sure you get only the genuine HCG hormone or homeopathic drops as there are some fakes out there.
